Skincare Splurge

I've been trying to be good with my money by saving and spending it on the necessities. I finally broke down this weekend and decided to treat myself. There have been a few products that I have been eyeing for awhile now. I finally ran out of my Mario Badescu skincare products and decided I was going to switch things up.

The first product I picked up was the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff. I have been eyeing this for months now. It has great reviews and I heard it lasts a long time. I am really picky when it comes to eye creams and I have been thoroughly impressed with the results of this so far. I notice a huge difference in my face when I put this on in the morning before applying my makeup. This is definitely a product I would buy again!

I also picked up the Origins GinZing Energy-boosting Moisturizer. I don't usually like moisturizers because they are too heavy and oily for me, but this is incredible! The texture of this lotion is light weight and clean. It also smells oranges. I am obsessed with it! I noticed a huge difference putting this moisturizer on before my makeup. It brightened my skin and gave it a nice healthy glow. Some of the ingredients include lemon, jojoba oil, grapefruit, shea butter, rosemary, raspberry and of course oranges. This is going in "my top 5 favorite skin care products of all time" list.

I have seen the Pixi Brand at Target for awhile now and have always been very intrigued by it. This brand puts a twist on skincare while also making great quality products. I decided to dive in and try the Double Cleanser. The Cleansing Oil contains Vitamin E, Camellia Oil and Primrose oil. These ingredients help to remove makeup and dirt off your face. The Cleansing Cream contains Vitamin C, Peptide Complex and Arginine to help cell renewal and elasticity. My face feels so soft and clean after I use it - which is exactly what I was searching for!

Although my bank account is feeling the damage of my shopping spree, I am very happy with my decision to purchase these products. It is worth it to spend money on your skincare products and make sure you are using items that are natural and safe for your skin. What are some of your favorite products that you're using at the moment?

Summer Loving

I took a bit of a break in May and June from buying makeup and skincare products. I realized I had gone a bit mad and bought more stuff than I needed. I made packed with myself that I'd use up the makeup and skincare items I had before going to buy more. Well it didn't last long and this time when I went to the store, I went all in. I bought items that were far too expensive and now my wallet is feeling the effects. All these products are perfect for summer (so I keep telling myself), so wanted to share the kinds of products I have been using during these hot months. I know there is less than a month left of summer, but it's better late than never!

The It's Potent Benefit Eye Cream. This is quite the product. I have tried a lot of eye creams, but no matter what, I always go back to this. I love the consistency and my eyes always look refreshed when I wake up in the morning, no matter how much sleep I've gotten. This is a brightening eye cream, that helps fade dark circles and smooth the appearance of fine lines. You are never to young to start using eye cream. This one is about $34 at Sephora. It's a bit expensive, but in the long run, your under eyes will thank you.

My next obsession is the Urban Decay Naked Beauty Balm with SPF 20. I love, love LOVE this product. It is my most favorite for summer. Many times, I find myself going for walks with friends at the beach or going out for a quick bite too eat. I don't want to look too made up but I also want to hide some of my spots. I put this baby on and instantly it matches my skin tone and gives me the coverage I need. It looks like you have nothing on plus it feels so light and airy on your skin. It also has an SPF so you can protect your skin during those sunny days. This is oil free as well so you don't have to worry about it clogging up your pores. Its magic in a tube.

I splurged on this product. I wasn't going to do it, but I couldn't resist. It's so beautiful. This is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. I have actually never tried Hourglass products before and after I bought this palette, I realized I need to go back for more. These are amazing highlighters that brighten up any makeup look. In the summer when you have a tan, you usually don't need to much makeup. Using one of these after a day at the beach just enhances that beach glow and brightens up your whole complexion. If you're looking for a great highlighter, I would seriously consider getting this palette.

Too Faced is also another product line I had never tried before. This is actually a free sample I received from Sephora, but when I am done with this one, I am buying the full size version! This is the Hangover Replenishing Face Primer. It is an instant cure for beauty hangovers or nights when you didn't get much sleep. Put this on before applying your makeup and it will help revive your skin. This will help your makeup last longer all day as well. In the summer it is hard to keep your makeup looking fresh all day in the heat, but this will help hydrate and boost your skin's radiance for a more flawless look! A definite must after a fun night out!

So recently, I discovered an all natural skin care shop that is 20 minutes from my house. I work in Boston and was introduced to the skincare products one afternoon on my walk at lunch during a Farmer's Market. The place is called Lighting Willow Farm and they sell everything from lotions, to serums to deodorant!! These are two of my favorite items I bought. On the left is the Mango Whipped Body Butter. The smell is so lovely and it hydrates my skin like no other lotion I have tried before. On the right is the Green Tree and Thyme Toner. This is to die for!! My skin looks absolutely incredible after using this. It also feels soft and hydrated. I don't think I can live without out. You can check out more of their products on their website at: www.lightningwillow.com

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Love At First Sight

I love when you see a product in the store and you are drawn to it. Everything about it is beautiful! You could not possibly leave it behind in the store because then you would go home and regret passing it by. I recently found a couple products that I could not live without! I know I sound like a crazy person, but I get so excited buying new products and using them for the first time! I have been known to not even use a product for a little while after I buy it because it is so beautiful (okay now I really sound like a crazy person).

In all seriousness, if you're a makeup enthusiasts like me, then you know exactly what I am talking about. These two products I recently picked up are to die for and they are certainly products that I will purchase again and again!

The first is the Benefit Hello Flawless Oil Free Foundation. I tried a sample of this and absolutely fell in love! The coverage is amazing and I feel like I have nothing on. This foundation also stays on throughout the whole day, which is absolutely brilliant! It really does brighten your skin as well. My skin looks healthy and energized when I put this on. I also love that it is oil free, yet it has a sunscreen. Foundations tend to clog my pores, so I only will be oil free ones, to keep my skin from breaking out. I of course purchased the lightest color foundation. It's overall just a beautiful product that I highly recommend!

I have developed a real problem with lipsticks lately, especially the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks. I just find the colors to be absolutely gorgeous and true to there pigment. I wanted to look for lipsticks that could be used every day. I wanted something subtle but still brightened up your every day makeup look. From left to right these colors are 801 Pink Cloud and 805 Kissable Pink. I have bought so many of these Revlon Lipsticks, but these two are my favorites!

Now that I have been wearing makeup everyday for work, I try and buy high quality products that are going to last me the day and have great coverage. I can always count on these products to get me through the day!

Happy Hydrating!

The winter is almost over (YES!) and spring is just around the corner. It has been a long cold season and now I am ready for sunshine and beach days! It's now time to get my skin ready for summer. All winter, I was washing my hands like crazy and covering up to stay warm that my skin has become drier than ever. I have been putting on lotion, but it just didn't seem to do the trick. I knew I was going to have to step up my game and find some products that would keep my skin hydrated.

Of course I went to Lush to find some moisturizing products. I came home with this Salted Coconut Hand Scrub. It not only smells amazing, but it makes my hands feel great! I commute into Boston for work, so I am constantly washing my hands and putting on hand sanitizer to keep from getting sick! I would put lotion on several times a day, but my hands still seemed to be cracking. This exfoliator helps get rid of dead skin cells and helps reveal healthy glowing hands.

My friend Sarah had bought this 9-5 Cleansing Lotion from Lush. It is made with almond oil, dove orchids and everlasting flower to remove dirt and grime while keeping your face smooth and hydrated. I usually use Mario Badescu face products, but this has been a wonderful replacement! I would definitely recommend trying this if you're looking to add some moisture to your skincare routine.

I received this PUR Miracle Mist in a Birch Box a few months ago. I honestly thought it was a useless product and never touched it until now. I just spray this onto my face after my skincare routine and it just gives my skin an extra boost of hydration. You know sometimes when your face gets really tight when it is dry? This product solves that problem instantly! Definitely a must for the winter time!

The Honey Trap Lip Balm and Mint Juups Lip Scrub are two products that I will never be able to live without. They are a couple of my favorite products ever. I have used A LOT of chapsticks, but none have even come close to these. In the winter, I put these products on almost every day and my lips stay nice and hydrated (and kissable)!!

We only have a few more weeks of winter left, but it is so important to get your skin ready for the summer sun. Happy hydrating!!

Fall Favorites

There are just some products you can't live without. I've gone a bit crazy with buying products lately, but I can't help it! There is just so many to try. These are just some of my recent favorites that I've been obsessing over. I use most of them every day and honestly do not know how I've gone this long without them in my life!

Primark finally came to Boston!!! I spent hours in there looking at every single thing and of course I ended up spending way more money than I should have. Anyways, I came across these lipsticks while I was shopping and was a little nervous about buying them because they were $2.00. Cheap makeup is usually always a bad idea. I ended up talking myself into buying the Scorch and Candy Shop lipsticks since they were ONLY $2.00. Now I'm obsessed. These lipsticks are amazing! You can drink, eat (even kiss) and the color stays on your lips! The pigment is gorgeous as well. I wear the Scorch lipstick all the time. Now I need to go back and get more colors!

I have never tried mousse before. I was honestly scared of it because I didn't know how much or when to put it in my hair. I also thought it would make my hair really hard and be difficult to wash out. I was very, very wrong. I cannot believe I have lived this long without mousse. I am fully obsessed now. Of all the types I have tried The Matrix Volume Builder Mousse is my favorite. It smells amazing and it give my hair a nice boost! I have tried a lot of product lines but I always go back to Matrix.

With the holidays right around the corner, I decided I needed a gold eye shadow. I had bought a few in the past and I absolutely hated them. It is so important not to cheap out on eye shadow. You want a product that is going to have nice coverage and stay on your eye lids all day without falling under your eyes (or in them!). Last time I was in Ulta I picked up the bareMinerals True Gold Eye Shadow. It is gorgeous! It has long-lasting coverage and is very sparkly! I also bought the iT Airbrush Smokey Liner brush so that I could put this on flawlessly. After I put on the gold eye shadow, I usually will put some brown eye shadow in the crease and outer corners of my eye for an every day look. You can never go wrong with sparkly eye shadow.

This is not only my favorite fall product, but my also my favorite product of all time. I love, love, love this Jergens BB Body Skin Perfecting Cream. I usually put this on at night and in the morning my skin is absolutely glowing! I am really light-skinned, so sometimes when I use self-tanners they make me look orange. This lotion just gives me a nice glow, while also perfecting and moisturizing my skin. I highly recommend trying this product. WARNING you will fall in love!

I have bought so many mascara's over the years but never really found one I loved. The search is over because I found The Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara! It does not clump up and it makes my lashes look really long. A lot of mascara's tend to smudge and fall under my eyes by the end of the day, but this one doesn't seem to do that as much. It's a keeper!

One of my favorite bloggers/vloggers of all time came out with a makeup line! I would highly recommend checking out Tanya Burr's blog and Youtube channel! I practically learned how to do my makeup because of her. Anyways, I bought two of her lip glosses, Just Peachy and Picnic in the Park. They are beautiful. They smell really good and stay on my lips a lot longer than other lip glosses. This looks really nice over the Primark Lipsticks too!

Do you have any favorite products you've been using lately?

Drug Store Favorites

Every once and while I love to just pop into the drug store and take a peak at all the new beauty products. Last week while I had some time to kill before work, I took a quick trip into CVS. I ended up spending way more money than I should of, but bought some really great stuff! Some of these products are oldies, but goodies that I frequently buy and others are new products I just couldn't leave behind!

The first product I picked up was the Milan Bronzer XL All Over Glow. I am always nervous about buying new bronzers because I don't want them to be too dark, but I found this one to be perfect! It gives my skin a nice glow and even adds a bit of sparkle to my complexion. This bronzer is also lightly fragranced which is lovely! I of course got the XL size since I will be using this a lot now that it is summertime.

Okay, this Jergens Instant Sun Mousse is AMAZING! I have tried many of the Jergens products but this is by far my favorite of all the products i have tried. This covered so well and didn't leave any streaks. I will warn you that is comes out really dark at first but begins to soak into your skin as you rub it in.

I usually put this on at night before bed and when I wake up I have a sun-kissed look. It is THE BEST self tanner I have ever used. If you need a quick tan this also works very well. This dries in 60 seconds and begins to bronze your skin a few minutes later. Definitely a great find!

I always have a hard time finding eye shadow that is cheap, but also works. So far, I have been really happy with this Almay intense i-color 421. I have been using the off white and pink color almost every day on my eyes and will use the dark blue one when I'm going out at night. Okay and between you and me, I actually use the pinkish color as blush more than I do eye shadow. It's the perfect shade!

Okay, so the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation will forever be my favorite! I was actually upset when I saw how much it costs now! It used to be about $8.00 and its now $12.50! I will still always buy it though because it matched my skin perfectly. I just love the coverage of this foundation. It goes on so flawlessly and stays on all day. It's definitely one of my favorite products of all time.

I've been trying to find a really nice gold eye shadow lately and thought I would give the NYC City Proof 24 Hour Waterproof Eyeshadow a go. This is in the color 615 5th Ave Gold Rush.

To be honest I did't love this as much as I wanted to, but I was still glad I picked it up. It went on very nicely, but I just wish the color was a bit darker. I liked that this eye shadow went on like a lipstick. It was easy to apply and stayed on all night. I definitely want to try some other colors.
